Richard Hughes is generally regarded as the world's leading authority on feather flower magic. As a former owner of the legendary Marshall flowers, Richard learned his craft directly from Horace and Marie Marshall and retains the rights to all of the Horace Marshall magic creations. He negotiated and designed the recreation of the famous Blackstone "Enchanted Garden" flower act while rebuilding that business. Later, he designed Harry's poinsettia darts for his Christmas show and actually made the automatic blooming bouquet that he used on the Miss America broadcast in one of his last appearances. He has worked very hard to meet the standards set by Mr. Marshall and to learn firsthand from Marie Marshall how to properly construct beautiful and durable feather flowers. His quality and workmanship speak for themselves. All effects are custom made at the time of ordering. Fantasio has credited him with "making the most beautiful bouquets in the U.S."

Richard invents and manufactures many of the effects and props seen in the top venues all over the world. Individual performers such as Harry Blackstone Jr., Lance Burton, Harry Anderson, Tina Lennert, Rick Thomas, David Ben and Dale Salwak, rely on his work. Venues such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, cruise ships, Universal Theme Parks, Broadway, BBC television, Miss America pagents, RBBB Circus, stage, television and movies, have all benefitted from his high quality and beautiful effects. With over 25 years of designing, manufacturing and performing this specialized branch of magic, Richard knows many of the little things that make these effects stronger and longer lasting in use.

His products, which have been shipped worldwide and used by leading professionals have received many fine compliments. He worked for 10 years rebuilding the name and reputation of the old Horace Marshall flower business before venturing under his own name. Richard left the Marshall business and name to stand under Hughes Magic in 1986. Since then, Richard has continued to produce the flower effects that he is famous for and has also developed new flower effects. His original water fountain production has been a feature of Lance Burton's show since 1995 when it was first introduced on the show at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas. The Blooming Rose Bush has been featured by David Ben as the "Conjuror", Jay Owenhouse, Adam Williams, and Gregory Gleason. Richard's Devils Hanks have received rave reviews from David Goodsell, Phil Whilmarth, and Eugene Burger. Custom silk work has been utilized by David Seebach, Joe Harrison, Jeff Hobson, Mark and Jinger Kalin, James Cielen and Dale Salwak. Richard has completed contract work for Bill Smith, John Gaughan, Bill McIlhany, Tad Ware, and many others. Harry Anderson and Luis de Matos have both featured his "Vanishing Bush and Pot". The Dove Production Cage has been performed by Rick Thomas for 12 years. No less than the late Sid Lorraine in the NEW TOPS magazine called his work "better than Marshall's."

Not only a craftsman with world famous products, Richard Hughes has performed coast to coast in a variety of venues. From school shows to corporate meetings, his skills have been enjoyed by audiences nationwide. With over 25 years of performing, these skills are well polished.

Richard is an "Order of Merlin" member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Society of American Magicians, Magic Collectors Society and Texas Association of Magicians. He listed in "Who's Who in Magic" and in "Encyclopedia of Magicians". He has lectured at the exclusive Magic Castle in Hollywood, IBM and SAM National Conventions and many regional conventions. His expertise is unsurpassed and recognized worldwide.
